Two Painter and Decorators have reached the Screwfix Top Tradesperson Final

  • Lewis Mitten and Georgie Baker have reached the final of Screwfix Top Tradesperson 2023.
  • Both painter and decorators will compete against eight other tradespeople from across the UK at the national final this month, with the aim of winning the coveted title and the ultimate £20,000 trade bundle.

Two painter and decorators are one step closer to being crowned Screwfix Top Tradesperson 2023, after reaching the final of the national award.

Lewis Mitten and Georgie Baker will now compete against eight other top tradespeople at the national final later this month to be crowned Screwfix Top Tradesperson 2023.

Lewis, 31, has seven years of experience in the trade and impressed judges during the semi-final stage by showcasing his passion for sustainability together with his passion as an advocate for promoting mental health within the trades.

Georgie Baker

Georgie, 35, has 10 years of experience in the trade and impressed judges during the semi-final stage with a passion for the trade, and how he’s using his own expereinces to shine a light on how a career in the trade can change lives.

Screwfix Top Tradesperson attracted more than 1,000 applications this year, with just 10 making the final stage. The final will take place at Screwfix LIVE on Friday 22 September, where the pair will have the chance to highlight their professionalism, dedication and commitment to the trade in front of a panel of industry experts.

The panel includes representatives from the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE), the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC), and Screwfix Top Tradesperson 2022 champion, Toby Peacock.

Only one tradesperson will be crowned Screwfix Top Tradesperson and receive the ultimate trade bundle of tech, tools and training worth £20,000, while earning themselves a spot in the Screwfix Top Tradesperson Hall of Fame.

Lewis, who owns Mitten’s Decorating, said: “Having only been in the trade for seven years, I’m committed to giving back, supporting others at the start of their own journey. So far I have trained two apprentices, and have plans to help many more. To be crowned Screwfix Top Tradesperson would be a dream come true!”

Georgie, who owns Baker’s Property Maintenance, said: “I’m really proud to have made it to the final of this coveted award. I started my journey in the trade a decade ago, and I can’t begin to explain how much it has changed my life and I’m excited to see what’s next for me and my career.”
