Project: Inside Holmwood House

Join us at 9am on Thursday 25th February on the #Trade Decorator Festival. We’ll be looking at the restoration of the original decoration of Holmwood House, using traditional decorating methods in a modern era. Restoring a building of this nature was never going to be straight forward. Ian Howie and his team have been working on the restoration of Holmwood House for the past 4 years due to the complexity of the decoration and the research involved in restoring this stunning building to its former glory.

Project of the Month - February 2020. Holmwood House is a family home like no other in Glasgow.  Located in the Southside of the city, on Netherlee Rd, it’s masterfully designed, with grand imagination behind it. Alexander ‘Greek’ Thomson designed the house for paper magnate at the time, Mr & Mrs James Couper in 1857–8, and it’s widely regarded as this Scottish architect’s finest domestic creation. His stunning design legacy impresses at every turn.
