Project of the Month – March 2021

This 120-year old private residence in Cowdenbeath, West Fife, Scotland, has had several different uses throughout the years. At one time it was a dentist, then a bank and then a hotel. However, as work commenced to convert the hotel to a family home, a nightmare experience with cowboy decorators left new owner Raja Waz, worried he’d lose the house before his family had even moved in. The owner was so stressed as the house had been left like a building site. Fortunately, a chance encounter via a mutual friend led him to an introduction to John Donnelly of Décor by Design.

Sandtex adds colour to Hull murals

Crown Paints played its part in the addition of four murals across Hull in 2020 by donating paint to local artist Andy Pea. The company, which manufactures some of its most popular products at its facility in Hull, has previously donated paint to numerous deserving local community causes through its Crown Decorating Centre located on Stoneferry Road. Crown was keen to work with Hull-based street artist Andy Pea having already worked with him several times since the company supported the Hull City of Culture campaign in 2017, and so donated Sandtex Trade products in various colours in order to complete the four murals located across the city last year.

Crown Paints continues its support of local community projects

Crown Paints has continued its efforts to add colour to people’s lives during these unprecedented times, through a series of paint donations to community projects across the UK. The Lancashire-based leading paint manufacturer, which also has a manufacturing facility in Hull, regularly donates paint to local causes and charities through its network of more than 140 Crown Decorating Centres and social enterprise, NIMTECH. Charlton Crown Decorating Centre recently donated 25 litres of various emulsions and oil-based wood and metal paint to South Rise Primary School’s nursery class as part of a project to improve play spaces for the pupils. Mistints were used for all of the donated paint, as part of Crown’s sustainability ethos which sees the company repurposing paint which can’t be sold by donating it to deserving community projects to create a positive impact.

Crown’s Colourful Murals Brighten Up Darwen

Crown Paints has teamed up with one of Lancashire’s most famous street artists to create two colourful murals in the Lancashire town of Darwen, where Crown’s HQ is located. The latest mural was completed by Keiron ‘Curly’ Whitehead in time for pupils at St Edwards RC Primary School in Darwen to return to lessons at the start of the autumn term. The colourful mural, which features local landmarks and an uplifting message, brightens up the playground, providing a fun space for the children to enjoy.
