A full house redecoration to be proud off
David Dean Decorating have just undertaken a full house redecoration on a private residence in Standish in Wigan. The house was extended & refurbished approximately 10 years ago so the clients wanted it renewing throughout. There was only one major problem that had to be addressed on the project and that was resin stains on the ceiling areas due to being clad in wood tongue & groove and this had previously been over coated with what appeared to be emulsion. After using around 18 tubes of caulk to fill expanded joints, Smith & Rodgers Blockade was chosen to resolve the issue. Being a pure shellac paint, this was perfect to seal the surface stains. It was then over coated with Tikkurila Intact 8 which gave an 8% sheen level, matt finish.
After a thorough prep with Festool dustless sanders, the feature walls were coated with Tikkurila ceramic 3. This was mixed out of the new fan chart J392 Tuohus. The remaining walls were painted with maybe mushroom Johnstone’s durable matt and the woodwork was finished in Andura satin.
The kitchen worktops were looking shabby and had to be sanded back with the Festool sanders and re-oiled with Osmo Top Oil for wooden kitchen worktops. The finish is stunning leaving the tops looking as good as new!
Dave Dean said, “The unique open plan style is what made the house inviting but it needed a colour to modernise it. I’m a big fan of the Two Fussy Blokes micro fibre rollers which were used on the woodwork and walls with the Staalmeester brushes and the finish was outstanding. The clients are delighted with end results”.
