New build redecoration, Farnham.
KPM Decorating Ltd recently completed this beautiful newbuild redecoration with ME & P Interiors Ltd. This is the latest in their portfolio as they’ve worked on several projects with them over the past couple of years and found the client a pleasure to work for.
The homeowners wanted to put their own stamp on the property, having recently purchased it. This is the first repaint on the property since it was built by Lusso Homes. The first job was to protect all the windows, flooring and then the staircase, which was done using Correx and Indasa plastic drop sheeting. All the masking tapes used on the project were by tesa. Once this was all completed, the preparation work could commence.
General movement cracks and minor knocks to the ceiling and walls were filled using the Tourpret Fibrecryl and Gypsum Easyfill 60. The woodwork was not in too bad shape; the usual preparation works were carried out on this using the Toupret woodfiller.
The main challenge they needed to overcome, whilst working on this project, was the access to the ceiling. The quick and simple solution to this was the use of a moveable scaffold tower. However, as you can see, the project was a great success for KPM Decorating and they didn’t encounter many issues beyond this.
The ceilings were spray-finished using their recently purchased, Wagner spray machine; the Wagner SF23 pro and 517 HEA TIP. The product used to spray the ceiling was Tikkrurila AR2. This was chosen due to the amount of natural light coming into the hallway from various locations; because of the high level of visibility, the client wanted to ensure that the ceiling had a flawless finish.
Once the ceilings were complete, preparation began on the woodwork. This was cleaned and then primed using Caparol haft primer, supplied by Paintshack. Once the primer had dried, this was sanded with Mirka gold flex 320 grade, followed by an application of top-coats of the Benjamin Moore Scuff X in Satin Super White.
Once all the woodwork had cured, all the top edges of the skirting and architraves were topped off using low tack tesa pink masking tape. This is a favourite of the team helping them to provide the sharp lines against the wall colour. To complete the look, the walls were painted in Dulux Diamond Matt 10yy/46041, applied with Wooster silver tip brushes and Hamilton medium pile green sleeves.
KPM Decorating Ltd are a commercial and domestic, painting and decorating company that specialise in airless spraying. Priding themselves on their standards and the quality of work they produce. They take on all aspects of interior and exterior decorating services.
Rob first started out in leisure; whilst in the industry, he did extra work within the maintenance department. After years in leisure, he started his side-line business offering property maintenance, which he grew until he could no longer do both.
After taking the plunge and going full time self-employed, the future direction of the business quickly became apparent, as all the referrals and repeat clients were asking for decorating work. It was decided it was time to rebrand into a decorating company and they channelled all their efforts into this. During this time, they have added dustless sanding, wall papering and evolved with airless and hvlp spray set ups to improve their service and finish for their clients. They have now been trading as KPM Decorating for 9 years and from strength to strength and grow year on year.
What is amazing is that they are not complacent and are proud to say, “but we are still learning”!
