BIRSTALL, United Kingdom, 14th of April, 2021 – PPG today announced that it made an employee-raised donation of more than £115,000 to Prostate Cancer UK to help fund research into better diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer and to provide support for affected men and their families. Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the United Kingdom.
PPG’s UK employees, including those at the company’s Johnstone’s Decorating Centres, have been raising money for the charity partner since January 2017 by taking part in a host of challenges. These included 12-hour swims, skydives and events like Prostate Cancer UK’s flagship March for Men walks and The Big Golf Race. The employees continued their fundraising efforts through the COVID-19 pandemic, recognising the need to offer support at a time when many charities were struggling for funding. The overall donation was made possible through PPG’s charity partner grant matching program.

The fundraising by the 1,500 UK employees is one part of PPG’s global community engagement efforts. With charity partners across more than 60 regions in Europe, Middle East and Africa, the company also provides matching grants to increase employee donations and their impact.
Fundraising now begins for mental health charity Mind, PPG aims to shine a spotlight on the importance of mental wellbeing, both to raise money for the charity and to support employees during the challenges posed by the global COVID-19 pandemic.
