Islington schools receives maintenance materials

An infant school in Islington is celebrating after receiving a helping hand from a local decorating and DIY store.

St Luke’s Primary School, on Radnor Street, has been named as one of the latest winners in Leyland SDM’s Give London a Lift campaign, receiving £1,000 to be spent in store.

Premises manager Alan Robinson has already visited Leyland SDM Farringdon to splash the cash on all the maintenance materials he will need for 2021.

“This is a great boost for the school,” he said. “School budgets have been hit hard so it’s increasingly difficult to provide the children with the facilities that we want them to have.

“I’m always running around doing reactive maintenance, whether its screwing doors back on, repairing toilet seats or patching up paintwork.

“This generous donation from Leyland SDM means I now have a stock of materials I can use as and when things happen. It really takes the pressure off.

“It’s great to see Leyland SDM getting involved with the local community.”

Leyland SDM’s Farringdon store is on 81-89 Farringdon Road.

Leyland SDM has 24 stores in prominent locations across London, including King’s Road Chelsea, High Street Kensington, Shaftesbury Avenue, Victoria, Streatham, Notting Hill and Clapham High Street.

Paul Gerreli, marketing director at Leyland SDM, said: “Our Give London a Lift campaign has been a huge success, supporting 10 good causes across the capital with £1,000 credit.

“We’re pleased to support St Luke’s Primary School. They work really hard to make it a nice environment for their pupils and just something simple like having a stock of basic maintenance items can make a real difference.”

The Give London a Lift campaign has now closed.

Established in 1985, Leyland SDM started trading with a single store in central London, supplying local tradesmen as a Specialist Decorators’ Merchants with paint and decorating materials.

Today the business has grown to become one of the most recognisable and trusted decorating and DIY retail brands in central London.
