Dulux Decorator Centre is a valued partner to many professional decorators thanks to its outstanding customer service, product choice and expert colleagues. Tyne and Wear based decorator Gary Marsh has been a regular customer throughout his career and continues to benefit from all that Dulux Decorator Centre has to offer.

Gary Marsh is a self-employed professional decorator based in Tyne and Wear. He has worked in the industry for 26 years, having started out at a large firm, before launching his own independent business. Throughout his career Gary has won several awards including the 2021 Dulux Select Awards – Painted Interior Project Over £2,500.

In 1998, Gary became a member of the Dulux Select Decorator programme and he benefits from being part of a large community of decorators that can all gain support from Dulux for their business. Dulux will help members of the scheme to achieve success with use of Dulux branded assets, awards and recognition, subsidised rates at the Dulux Academy and more.

Since starting out in the industry, Gary has been a regular customer at his local Dulux Decorator Centre in Sunderland, visiting the store up to three times a week. He benefits from Dulux Decorator Centre’s  customer centric approach that ensures colleagues closely with decorators to understand their needs and the requirements of the project to provide bespoke solutions. 

Speaking about his experience in the store, Gary said: “The team at Sunderland Dulux Decorator Centre have always been incredibly welcoming. They know their customers by name, and I get the sense that they are genuinely interested in what I am up to.  Every member of the team is incredibly helpful and proactive and will always ask me about upcoming work so they can make sure they have the products I need when I need them. Their product knowledge is also second to none and they will often advise on the best solutions for the job.”

Working on large elaborate projects means that Gary is often in need of large amounts of stock. He also needs deliveries to be arranged in a timely manner to ensure he can carry out his work efficiently and to schedule. Dulux Decorator Centre works closely with its customers to provide accurate lead times – and collaborates with the wider store network to help facilitate urgent or last-minute requests. 

Dulux Decorator Centre also offers an extensive selection of collection and delivery options to suit customers’ needs, including the choice of morning or afternoon time slots and express same day delivery. Many customers now choose to manage their account and shop online at any time day or night. This flexibility allows decorators to keep working as efficiently as possible with quick access to the products they need – when and where they need them be it at home, on site or collection in store. 

Gary explains: “The team are always excellent at getting hold of stock and providing accurate lead times. This means I can accurately arrange work timescales and manage my customers’ expectations.” 

The Dulux Decorator Centre team are also on hand to support customers with product specification and colour matching. They will also keep decorators up to date with the latest innovations and colour options and even assist with making cost efficiencies that do not compromise on quality.
