Construction industry backs band of builders to help transform home of paralysed dad-of-four

The construction industry has come together to help national charity Band of Builders transform the home of a chartered surveyor left paralysed after a fall at home.  Rob Lamb, 58, suffered a severe spinal cord injury when he fainted due to low blood pressure at home in October, leaving him paralysed from the chest down.  The quantity surveyor has not been home since then, moving from hospital where he underwent surgery to a rehabilitation centre in Oswestry over 80 miles from his home in Solihull which needed specialist adaptations before he could return.

Scottish Construction Leadership Forum reaches out to industry for answers on future skills

In a new initiative in its wider agenda for change, the Scottish Construction Leadership Forum is reaching out to every part of the industry to seek its views on training provision and the intractable problem of skills shortages. The Forum, a collaboration between Construction Scotland, industry partners, the Scottish Government and other industry stakeholders, is issuing a comprehensive survey questionnaire to employers, designers, engineers, educators and construction and supply chain operatives.

Leyland SDM Launching Ambitious Expansion Plans

The CEO of leading decorating and DIY specialist Leyland SDM has revealed the continuing expansion plans to open even more stores in London as the business prepares for another year of growth in 2021. Chief Executive Jonathan Jennings has confirmed that Leyland SDM will open at least six new stores across London before the end of the year. Following Leyland SDM’s acquisition of GDC Paints in July 2020, the first of those stores is now rebranded to Leyland SDM in Acton with Tooting, Cricklewood, Fulham North and Greenford to be transformed before the end of May.
